WELLNESS AND EARLY DETECTION PROGRAM

Early detection is a well known and understood concept in human medicine. When you go to the doctor for your regular "check-up", besides getting a thorough physical exam very often some baseline testing is done bloodwork, urinalysis, blood pressure reading etc.

Veterinary medicine has caught up with our human counterparts with good reason. Our pets age exponentially faster than us and they cannot talk and often show no signs when something is wrong! Therefore, early detection is the answer. Catching a disease early can make all the difference, adding years to your pet's life!

This is why All Creatures has implemented our Wellness Program which includes a thorough physical exam and basic tests to detect illness early.

Our early detection program includes:
a cbc (complete blood count), a chemistry profile, a thyroid test, a urinalysis, a heartworm and a fecal test. As your pet gets older these tests may be recommended on a more frequent basis and additional tests such as a blood pressure reading, glaucoma testing or an EKG are often performed.

Here is a list of the most common diseases that can be detected:
(heartworm disease, intestinal parasites, diabetes, kidney and liver disease, adrenal disease such as cushing's or addison's disease, thyroid disease, infection/inflammation, anemia or leukemia)

As technology advances so does our ability to care for your pets. Our diagnostic lab has recently introduced PCR testing, which is a method to amplify very small amounts of an organisms DNA in order to make it detectable. PCR testing will provide more rapid diagnosis and treatment for respiratory, gastrointestinal and vector borne illnesses like those transmitted by ticks or mosquitoes.
